Weird books for weird people.
Astaroth Books is an independent occult and witchcraft store based in Melbourne, Australia, specialising in second-hand, unusual and hard-to-find books on witchcraft, magic, folklore, mythology, divination and esotericism.
We are drawn to the strange edges of the bookshelf: books that have fallen out of print, older editions, obscure writers, specialist subjects and titles you are unlikely to stumble across in an ordinary bookshop.
Alongside the books, Astaroth is growing into a broader home for carefully selected occult goods, ritual materials and curios.
Books with a past
Second-hand books are at the heart of Astaroth Books.
Many of our books are individual copies. When one is gone, there may not be another waiting to replace it.
We photograph and describe second-hand books individually, so the book you see is the book you receive. We also identify editions as carefully as possible, particularly when dealing with older, unusual or collectible books.
Our shelves range across Witchcraft, Magic & Occult, Myth, Folklore & Legend, Tarot & Divination and plenty of stranger territory besides.
More than books
Astaroth is expanding beyond the bookshelf.
Our growing Materia Magica range brings together selected ritual and esoteric goods, while Oddities & Curiosities is home to the stranger objects we unearth.
Books will always be at the heart of Astaroth, but we're building a collection that extends beyond the bookshelf into objects, tools and curios connected to the same strange worlds we read about.

Astaroth Books is based in Melbourne and built for Australian readers, practitioners and collectors who have traditionally had to look overseas for specialist occult material.
We want Astaroth to be somewhere you can browse the digital shelves without knowing exactly what you're looking for and occasionally find something you didn't know existed.
Whether it's an out-of-print witchcraft book, an unusual tarot deck, an old piece of folklore or some strange object we've unearthed, the interesting things don't always stay around for long.
