We regularly source new stock, but we’re selective with what we take. Each book must suit the collection: well-kept, relevant, and suitable for resale.

If you’re looking to sell books, we can review your collection.

How Selling to Us Works

Before sending anything, please contact us first.

The easiest way is to:

  • Send clear photos of your books (spines facing out in stacks works best)
  • Message us to arrange a collection review

For larger collections, house clearances, or deceased estates, we may be able to arrange an in-person visit within Victoria (Australia) to assess the books directly.

This allows us to give you an idea of what we’re interested in before anything is shipped or moved unnecessarily.

What We Pay & How It Works

We generally offer 40% of the expected resale price for accepted books.

This applies to all online purchases.

In simple terms:

  • You receive 40%
  • We retain 60% to cover running costs, fees, and GST

Shipping

If we agree to purchase your books, we cover the cost of shipping to us. We’ll provide instructions and, where applicable, arrange collection or shipping labels.

Payment Timing

Payment is made after the books have been received and checked.

Once the collection has been assessed and confirmed, we will process payment promptly.

Tarot & Oracle

  • Complete tarot decks only
  • Complete oracle decks only

What We Don’t Buy

To keep the collection focused, we generally do not accept:

General Fiction & Mass Market

  • Romance novels
  • Most modern fiction paperbacks
  • Self-help (mainstream titles)
  • Travel guides, textbooks, encyclopedias

Condition Issues

  • Water-damaged, mouldy, or heavily worn books
  • Missing pages or incomplete sets
  • Strong odours (smoke, mildew, etc.)

Other Items

  • DVDs, CDs, or unrelated media
  • Incomplete tarot/oracle decks may be considered, but only at a significantly reduced price


Donations

We also accept donations of books that suit the Astaroth Books collection.

We’re not able to cover shipping costs for donated books, but depending on your location, we may be able to arrange collection.
