The Charge of the Goddess collects the poetry of Doreen Valiente, one of the most important figures in modern witchcraft and Wicca. This expanded edition includes her best-known ritual and devotional pieces, along with new and previously unpublished poems.

The collection is named after Valiente’s famous text “The Charge of the Goddess”, one of the central poetic and liturgical works of modern Wicca. Her poetry moves through themes of nature, goddess spirituality, seasonal ritual, witchcraft, folklore, reincarnation, longing, devotion, and the mysteries of the Old Religion.

A useful and attractive volume for readers interested in Wicca, modern witchcraft, pagan poetry, goddess spirituality, ritual writing, and the history of twentieth-century occult revival.

About the Author:

Doreen Valiente was an English witch, poet, and author, often called the Mother of Modern Witchcraft. She worked closely with Gerald Gardner and played a major role in shaping modern Wiccan ritual language, including important revisions to Gardner’s Book of Shadows. Her books and poetry remain central to the study of Wicca, witchcraft, and modern paganism.
